For Kasey

When we redid the yard I bought two new rose bushes the pink rose bush didn't seem to do well, honeslty we thought it was going to die.

Well look at this:

Isn't that a wonderful sight...I thought for sure the heat would have finished the job of killing it. I do believe it will make it!

You Know Its Hot When…

The dog lets you give him a bath outside with the hose!

Last time we gave Günter a bath it took 4 people to hold him….today it took one slightly pulling on his chain. He actually was happy to get wet and for a dog that hates water that is saying something. Top temp with heat index yesterday 110…today the same…yes it is hot, just like the rest of the country at this time.

Yeah that's it...more water!

Ok hum that may be enough water...hello...enough!!!

Master Bath

I am just going to let the pictures do all the talking. The only thing I will say is it came out better then I ever thought it would.

I bought wooden picture frames and then aged them. I also found some shareware photos of out houses and aged them. My mom and dad loved my pictures and I have to say I love them too.

I had to show you a close up of the rack dad made.

and the bottom of course. I love the little box at the bottom.

So there it is my new master bath. I love it and if I could invite you all to come and marvel with me I would. I love the colors, the comfortable feeling of the room and the fact that most of the items in there are one of a kind!!! I also love the fact I did 98% of the work myself. Dad caulked the tub area for me and put up my border paper.

Christmas in July :O)

My girls are home I really missed them; it’s good to have them back.

Dad unpacked my stuff he made….lookie here!

My friend Jennifer made me the out house cross stitch and dad made the rack to go with it. How cool is this!
Posted by Picasa

I had asked if he could make me a tp holder. He said he would do what he could.... isn’t this awesome!
Posted by Picasa

See the shingles...he cut each of them out, it really looks like a roof.
Posted by Picasa

I said "hey dad can you make a trash can while your at it? " Hey this is my dad he can make anything and he did.
Posted by Picasa

I had to make something so I made these hooks for out hand towels, I also sanded it down to make it look worn. Ok so it isn't as beautiful as what dad did but hey I am just starting.

Tomorrow the real decorating begins. I worked on my pictures and the frames today. Maybe if all goes well I will have finished pictures to show you all tomorrow.

Are You Sure This Is My House? Shit!

Wondering where I have been?

I have been cleaning my bathroom I am the worlds messiest painter. In our tub area there was a strip because people are lazy fucks and didn’t take the time to RECAULK to tub instead they just place plastic strips down…quick fix…why do it right! RIGHT!

Here is why and this is your warning it’s disgusting:

Can you say gross!!!!
Posted by Picasa

Hours of my life cleaning the nastiest shit but finally it's clean. I ended up sick last night...between my asthma, my allergy to mold, and the cleaning stuff I had to use to kill and clean it...last night was not good. Yes I did use gloves and a mask. Momma didn’t raise a complete fool.
Posted by Picasa

Yeah anyway …more good news are you ready?

To bad I wasn’t ready when I heard it either so here it is.

I have had to use the girls bathroom since mine is under construction. Well I kept noticing these little white specks on the floor…vacuumed them I figured the girls had knocked something over and didn’t vacuum it….then the next day there were back…I look up and see this.

sorry it is so blurry...did I ever mention my fear of heights...needed a ladder for this picture and my hand was a bit shaky.
Posted by Picasa

So I think humm not good ….walk around the house and notice the termite bate traps are not so busy…and one has a cover missing. Call my pest control….tell them I think I have a problem could they check it out.

This is what they found.

yes this is my newly painted wall in the girls bathroom...and yes those are termites. Bastards!!
Posted by Picasa

yet more pretty pictures…

upper part of the wall.
Posted by Picasa

Seems they have eaten parts on the upper and lower wall, and the spot in the ceiling. BASTARDS!

There is good news…we have a termite bond (Thank God I married a smart and Anal man…he is now forgiven for then mildew above!) So they will come and kill the little fuckers, of course to do that they will have to CUT a hole in Alyssa’s wall…another room I just freaking painted and so two rooms will have to repainted. Nice…but at least it won’t cost us anymore then some inconvenience and the tears I sat down and cried this morning when is saw the damage.

Yeah I see the other half of that bottle of wine going today...is it really bad to drink alone? Oh hell I will go and drink with the termites, I won't be drinking alone and I can taunt them "Your going to get yours your little bastards!! I have special plans for you, here have another drink!"

How True!

My friend from Homefront Six posted this, link….I was born and mostly raised in Connecticut and my god I laughed when I read these, I totally relate.

You Know You're From Connecticut When

  • You have hiked up a big hill or small mountain at least once for a keg party.

  • You thought that the only highways were 95, 91 and 84.

  • You thought everyone couldn't buy beer after 8 pm.

  • You can't understand why people don't understand what your talking about when you refer to a "package" store.

  • You or someone you know has attended UCONN.

  • You have been to Misquamicut and to that little hot dog place.

  • There is a farm within miles of your house.

  • Your high school thanksgiving football game was the highlight of your school year.

  • You don't have an accent when you talk.

  • UConn basketball rules and no one can tell you different.

  • You have deer in your backyard.

  • You still don't understand why people say that Connecticut is the richest state.

  • You go to Riverside at least once a summer.

  • You think New Jersey was a toxic waste dump.

  • You've partied at bonfires.

  • You think Old Lyme is a shore town.

  • You think the Connecticut River is endless.

  • You've never looked at a public bus schedule.

  • You think New Haven is the worst ghetto you've ever seen.

  • You have said... " I'm in a good location... Between both Boston and New York.”

  • You get pissed at anyone who doesn't know how to drive in the snow.

  • You sail, or know someone who does.

  • Summer footwear is either Reefs or Birks.

  • You grew up wanting to be a lifeguard.

  • You have at least one friend whose house was built in the 1800's

  • Your house would cost half as much in any other state.

Trim

The bath area is done. I finished the trim this morning. I really like the trim color. I think I may use it in my kitchen. Of course the kitchen is a long way off…Rob will be home to help me do that one!

I know pictures…here you go.

I was trying to show the trim and the wall...of course Gunter had to join in.
Posted by Picasa

This is actually a better representation of the colors. I was worried the Gobi would be too dark, I was wrong.
Posted by Picasa

Finally I wanted to show you all the three colors together. The door is the color of the upper walls in the sink area.
Posted by Picasa

My goal is to have all the trim done today and start cleaning…I am on messy painter let me tell you, and start decorating Thursday. Friday my parents are comeing up with the girls and dad is brining me all my cool stuff he has made for the room. It’s going to be awesome!

*Edited*
I finished the bottom part of the sink area walls. So hopefully I am done with the green.

The the sink area...as you can see I figured out my delima of where to half.
Posted by Picasa

I went with the trim line on the sink. I hope this was a smart choice since I have never put up border before. But hey if you ever need anyone to help take the stuff down...I am your girl!

Primed & Ready

Set my goal yesterday at getting all the paper off and the walls ready to paint. Once I realized I wasn’t going to be scrapping walls for hours I decided to try and see if I could at least get the walls primed last night so all I had to do was paint color today.

as you can see I did manage to prime the walls last night. Today I add the color.
Posted by Picasa

I love how clean the walls are. I was so glad the paper didn't put up a fight.
Posted by Picasa

I am going to pain the ceiling too.
Posted by Picasa

Ok last one....now time for color.
Posted by Picasa

I am so excited to see the colors up. I have been debating on what to do with the trim color. I know I am painting the doors and ceiling the Raffia Cream. I think I may do the bottom molding and door molding the Gobi Desert, and I am still not sure if I am going to paint all the walls in the tub and toilet area green or split them like I plan to do in the sink area. I do know my border has been shipped and I hope to have that by Wednesday. Never put up border before. Should be fun!

Under Construction

Today I started the mater bath. The paper came down very nicely and I can’t tell you how thrilled I was that it did. I also had a first today…I replaced my first light fixture by myself.

You knew I would have pictures!

Down With Paper,Up With Paint...Again

And so it begins, I have the paint bought, my custom wood order with dad is being made, and time has come for the paper to come down!

I plan to start stripping the paper tonight. I bought a new light fixture too, the only I am not replacing is the mirror. I hate it but at the moment I just don’t have the money to replace it so…damn thing stays.

I did take before pictures; well I started stripping the paper and then remember I had forgotten to take before picture. Got that?

Here are the paint choices for the bathroom.

They may look a bit drab here but I think they will look great once they are up. The bathroom has a skylight so lots of light comes in.

Wish me happy stripping.

Happy Birthday Mom

Today is my mom's 61st birthday. She is celebrating it on the road back to Florida with dad and the girls.

Last night we had a small BBQ and some friends came by. It was nice and we had some good laughs.

You know I have at least one picture to show you!

Happy Birthday to us!! On the cake it said "Happy Birthday" and it had a 61 on the top corner and a 41 on the bottom corner. We decided against the 102 candles and went with 10 hehehehe no need to burn the house down!!!

London Attack

My prayers and thoughts are with all in London today, in this latest terrorist attack.

More here

506…148…654

506…lets just let that sink in. 506…506…that is the number of days Rob has been gone. Enough said there don’t you think.

148 that is the number of days till he comes home for good! If you think it will be all ice cream and cake think again. If your spouse was gone a total of 654 days would you be able to just pick up where you left off when they left?

No, of course not…life happens and people change, am I scared to death of his coming home and rebuilding (lets face it you have to rebuild many things when someone is gone that long.) the answer is no…but am worried I would have to be a fool not to be.

On the other hand I can’t wait for this to end and him to be safe at home forever!

506 days…148…654… I must love him a lot! I do and I miss him just as much!

Here is a few more numbers for you to crunch on…,22years, l month, 18 days. This is the number of years my husband has served his country.

It’s time for him to come home raise his daughters and take care of his wife. We only have 148 more days to wait for just that.
